Gerade bekam ich eine Mail von Pandora mit folgendem Text:
Today we have some extremely disappointing news to share with you. Due to international licensing constraints, we are deeply, deeply sorry to say that we must begin proactively preventing access to Pandora’s streaming service for most countries outside of the U.S.

Until now, we have not been able to tell where a listener is based, relying only on zip code information provided upon registration. We are now able to recognize a listener’s country of origin based on the IP address from which they are accessing the service. Consequently, on May 3rd, we will begin blocking access to Pandora to listeners from your country. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative.
Das war es also bis auf Weiteres. Pandora blockt seine User außerhalb der Vereinigten Staaten anhand der IP-Adressen. Aufgrund von Lizenzbestimmungen bleibt ihnen wohl nichts Anderes übrig.
Meine in mühsamer Kleinarbeit herangezüchteten Stationen bleiben angeblich gespeichert, bis Pandora auch in Deutschland offiziell seinen Dienst anbietet. Ich will hoffen, dass das irgendwann passiert. Diese Hoffnung teilen übrigens auch weitere Blogger, z.B. aus Brasilien oder Spanien.
Bis dahin werde ich musikalisch ein wenig unterversorgt sein und mich auf die Suche nach einer würdigen Alternative machen müssen.

I wanted to drop a note to say how sorry we are about this turn of events. Believe me it’s the last outcome we wanted.

Hi Tom! Thank you very much for your kind response
I think we all know that it depends largely on our local performance rights organisations (GEMA in Germany). I hope, they will be cooperative in this matter. Unfortunately, GEMA’s insightfulnes was not something to marvel at in the past, if you ask me.
As long as you take good care of our stations, we will wait and keep the faith.
